Passwords and Tokens are extremelyvulnerable and are easily stolen or lost. A poorpassword is one of the most common causes ofsecurity and data breaches. Hacker attacks targeteven the strongest passwords. Resetting thepassword takes a long time and can cause theemployee to lose productivity. Biometrics can beused to solve the problem. It is the method ofrecognizing or confirming individuals based onphysiological or behavioral features such as the iris, fingerprints, facial pattern, DNA, speech patterns, and so on. The concept of distinguishing individualsbased on their fingerprints goes back thousands ofyears. It first became famous in the 1970’s. Thedetection and authentication of fingerprints is themethod of fingerprint identification. Fingerprintidentification is the most commonly used biometric. This research paper explains the maincharacteristics of fingerprints and how theAutomatic Minutiae Detection process works, aswell as comparing 2D and 3D fingerprintrecognition
