In this paper, the impact of patch and groundplane slots on the bandwidth performance of a microstripUWB antenna is presented. Our reference antenna is amicrostrip feeding type monopole feature with arectangular patch and a partial ground plane. In order toevaluate the characteristics of the reference antennabandwidth, two separate slot types (right-angle triangularand rectangular) have been inserted into the patch and asingle slot configuration like a rectangular is also insertedinto the partial ground plane on the backside of the feedline to the appropriate. The influence on the bandwidthcharacteristics of single and multiple slot cases is analyzedusing the HFSS simulator. Based on the slotconfigurations, the simulation results verify that theantenna bandwidth can be improved.
