The dynamic of railway vehicle wheelsets isinfluenced by the actions of the conicity of the wheels andthe creep forces acting between the wheels and rails. Inthis review paper, the dynamics analysis of wheelset hasinvestigated, equations of motion have formulated andstability criteria obtained which indicate the effects ofvarying the various parameters of the system. The natureof the motion at the critical speed is investigated and themode of energy conversion between the forward motion ofthe vehicle and the lateral motion of the wheelset isexplained. From a dynamic analysis, it is shown how thecritical speed of the wheelset slips and suspension stiffnessrelates to the kinematic motion.
