Flood is a common problem not only inIndia but worldwide and most of the water bodies areeasily accessible to common people. At times it mayhappen that the weather conditions may changesuddenly and the water bodies may become violent, resulting in a flood which can lead to loss of lives aswell as livestock. Therefore, a rapid flood detectionsystem that can reach a wide area such as the internetis necessary to minimize the effects of disasters. So, thispaper proposes a flood detection system with the helpof the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is a smarttechnology that has the capability to send data in realtime. The system is powered using Arduino and has 3sensors to detect 5 different parameters. Firstly, tomeasure temperature and humidity we have DHT-11Digital Temperature and Humidity Sensor. Then wehave the Water Flow sensor to check the flow of water. And lastly, to measure the distance and water level wehave HC-SR04-Ultrasonic Range Finder and DistanceSensor. Finally, the collected information istransmitted to LCD to display the information. Thesystem continuously keeps checking any changes in theweather condition and updates the live data over IoT.In case the parameters reach a dangerous level thesystem immediately alerts the people.
