The ability of Mangifera indica seed extract toinhibit the corrosion of tin metal immersed in 0.5M HClacid using the gravimetric method, in the form of aprolonged test and a rapid test at room temperature wasstudied. The prolonged test was carried out over a periodof 21 days at two (2) days intervals, while the rapid testwas performed for 5hours at intervals of 1hour. Theexperiments were performed with inhibitor concentrationsof 0.2g/l, 0.4g/l, 0.6g/l, 0.8g/l and 1.0g/l. Results showedthat, for the prolonged test, a maximum inhibitionefficiency of 97.4944% at 1.0g/l concentration wasobtained and the adsorption of the extract on the metalobeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, whereas for therapid test, a maximum inhibition efficiency of 84.2294%was obtained and the adsorption of the extract on themetal followed the Freundlich adsorption isotherm. Both isotherms confirm the mechanism of physisorption.
