—Corrosion of steel pole is a serious issue as theyused steel pole to support overhead power line indistribution. A lot of money and time are spent formaintenance and repair of existing steel pole. This paperpresents investigation on various coating technologies ofsteel pole for initial corrosion activity. Five types of coatingwere used on steel samples; epoxy, VEF polyglass, galvanized, epoxy galvanized and polyglass galvanized. The accelerated ageing test, salt spray test and waterabsorption test were used to determine coatingdegradation and severity of corrosion process. It wasfound that, the corrosion rate for epoxy galvanized andVEF polyglass galvanized were higher as the samples wereundergoing accelerated ageing test. While VEF polyglasssteel showed higher percentage of weight loss during saltspray test. In addition, the results of water absorptionbehavior showed that epoxy steel gave higher average ofabsorption rate. The results obtained lead to lowdegradation of coating as the corrosion rate seem to be uniform
