The efficiency at field level is in largepart measured in terms of the evenness of depthof moisture of the soil, which is directly related tothe constant delivery of discharge. The deficiencyin operation of networks may be due to incorrectmeasurement of discharge passing through theCheck Structure. For measuring the dischargethrough gate, the value of Coefficient ofDischarge Cd is one of the important factors. Thevalue of Cd for any gate can be assessed either bycontinuous observation at site for long durationor by regression analysis or by developing alaboratory model. The discharge algorithms accurately representthe complete discharge characteristics for therange of water levels and radial gate geometrynormally encountered at canal radial gate checkstructures. The primary disadvantage of thedischarge algorithms is their complexity
