Genes are basic physical and functional unit ofheredity. Genes are made up of DNA. Some genes act asinstructions to make molecules called proteins. However, many genes do not code for proteins. Gene Mutation refersto modification of gene’s DNA sequence. Mutation ofgenes can vary within a genome and between genomes.Mutations range in size; they can affect anywhere from asingle DNA building block (base pair) to a large segment ofa chromosome that includes multiple genes. Becausemutation is one of the fundamental forces of evolution, thiswork looked into the various computer software tools thatcan be used for genetic mutation analysis. Theseapplications were reviewed stating the OS platform itdepends on, the nature and format of data it accept, theinput and output from these software tools and urls werethey can be found were also stated.
