The gyrotron traveling-wave tube amplifier (gyroTWT) is mainly used as high power millimeter wave sources that addresses the well-known concept of the electron cyclotron maser (ECM) instability. This paper present technology, development status and application of the short pulses Gyro-TWT amplifiers over a long period of time. Mainly focused on the techniques, beam wave interaction structure, controlling instability, broadband operation, high-power, low magnetic field. Keywords— high-order harmonic interaction, high-order mode interaction, bandwidth extending or broadband operation, waveguide wall loss.
