The article is analyzed the factors contributing to and impeding the introduction of pedagogical innovations; characterized anti-innovation barriers – external (social, organizational, methodological, logistical) and internal (propensity to conformism, anxiety, self-doubt, negative self-perception, low self-esteem, rigidity of thinking andother). It was emphasized that the effectiveness of implementation pedagogical innovations depends primarily on the lecturer, his innovative potential. The results of diagnosing the innovative potential of teachers involved in the training of future social workers are also presented. By results of diagnostics, it’s established that the vast majority of educators have a high level of innovation in spite of availability different external anti-innovation barriers. Suggested the activities to promote further development the innovative potential of teachers and teaching staff of the department as a whole.
