கவரி என்பது மானா? [KAVARI ENBATHU MAANAA?] (IS KAVARI REFERS TO DEER?)

பொதுவாகத் தமிழர்கள் மானத்தைப் பெரிதும் போற்றுபவர்கள். மானம் இழந்ததன் பின் உயிர்வாழ்தல் கூடாது என்னும் கொள்கையினர். இதனைச் சோழ மன்னன் கோப்பெருஞ்சோழன், சேர மன்னன் கணைக்கால் இரும்பொறை ஆகிய இருவர்தம் வாழ்வியல் உணர்த்தும். இத்தகு மானம் காத்தல் என்னும் செயலுக்குக் கவரி என்றும் விலங்கின் இயல்பு வள்ளுவரால் உவமையாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இக்கவரி என்னும் விலங்கு இரையாசிரியர்களால் மான் என்று உணர்ந்து கொள்ளப்பட்டு அவ்வாறே ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளாகப் பொருள் கூறப்பட்டு வருகிறது. கவரி என்பது பசுபோன்ற ஒரு விலங்குதானே தவிர மான் இல்லை என்பதே ஆய்வாளரின் கருதுகோள். எனவே, கவரி என்பது மான் என இலக்கண, இலக்கியங்களில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளதா என்பதே ஆய்வாளரின் தேடல். இந்த ஆய்வின்வழி தமிழ்ச்சமூகத்தில் கவரி என்பது குறித்துக் காலம் காலமாகத் தவறாகக் கற்பிதம் செய்யப்பட்டதை நீக்கி ஓர் உண்மையௌத் தெளிவுறுத்த முடியும் என்பது ஆய்வாளரின் நம்பிக்கையாகும். The natures of men who safeguard their honour and dignity zealously are likened to the nature of an animal called Kavari. Kavari has been misinterpreted as a deer for a long long time. But the present researcher believes that it is not actually a reference to a deer; but it points to an animal which is a Yak. The researcher has endeavoured to prove her point through a new study.)
