Even though COVID-19 has not spared any community in Sri Lanka, Muslim community is highly concerned. As Islam has guidelines to offer in every aspect of life, it is necessary to draw guidelines in terms of COVID-19 as well to deal on individual-level, family-level and social-level. In that respect, Islamic perspectives on contagions, and Islamic health guidelines and religious rulings have been proposed in this article. This was analysed as a quantitative research based on secondary data. Islam teaches that Allah afflicts mankind with sicknesses so as to guide them towards the right path, while it highly demands both spiritual and physical healthcare practices. In fact, it is meritorious to practise them while it is a sin upon violating them. And during COVID-19 period, Islam suggests flexible rulings that are not contradictory to scientific facts which protects people’s lives, dignity, and efforts. It is necessary for a Muslim to acknowledge that health guidelines provided by the authorities are not contradictory to the Islamic principles and it is required for them to abide them to lead a better Islamic way of life.
