5-Acetyl-4-amino-N-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-(phenylamino)thiophene-3-carboxamide was synthesized and used in CMC and Chitosan modifications to improve their efficiency in removing heavy metal ions from wastewater. The modified polymeric membranes were characterized, and their efficiency was investigated compared to the unmodified membranes in removing the heavy metal ions from their aqueous solutions. The effect of contact time was investigated, and monitoring of the change in pH during treatment was carried out. For heavy metal ions, the copper (II) ion was selected as a representative example, and its concentration was determined by ICP spectrometry.
