Cancer is a major cause of mortality in developing countries, accountingfor 13 percent of the annual deaths in adults. As the population increasesand ages, the number of new cases of cancer is expected to increasedramatically. This article presents epidemiologic information on theprincipal cancers in developing countries and outlines the increasingchallenge for the control of cancer in developing countries.
