J ohn T. Bowen 6rst described the entity bearing his name in 19 12.’ From that time, Bowen’s disease has been identified as squamous cell carcinoma in situ. Since Graham and Helwig iirst postulated a paraneoplastic nature of Bowen’s disease, several studies had initially confirmed this observation. More recently, carefully controlled studies have shown the disease lacks a paraneoplastic association.
