Author’s goal is to draw the professional community’s attention to the problems of the ‘low-level’ libraries of organizations and companies. The history of corporate libraries and sci-tech library network in the country is reviewed. Typological and specific features of sci-tech libraries are defined. The author also attempts to characterize the present status of sectoral research and sci-tech libraries.
