The International Journal of Religion (IJOR) was founded to fill a gap: how and why ‘religion’ impacts on society and politics both within and between countries. It aims to be comprehensive and inter-disciplinary. Its fundamental goal is to investigate, via sound research questions and techniques, relationships that religion has with national and international politics, society, economics, sociology, history and humanity. It aims to be an authoritative academic journal of high quality, publishing research articles without discriminating against any specific religion, region or time period. By inviting scholars, researchers, thinkers and practitioners working on and interested in these issues, IJOR seeks to create an environment conducive to critical and independent debates. Moreover, it aims to create a mutual exchange of knowledge and dialogue between interested parties with different perspectives in order to generate a variety of sometimes contrasting conclusions. The International Journal of Religion (IJOR) is not restricted to a specific subject or field within the wide spectrum that is religion, but it does present a set of fundamental principles. It is committed, as a guiding philosophy, to embody an academic understanding of these issues, always refraining from hateful and discriminatory language.
