The English term aircraft has several Slovene equivalents (zrakoplov, letalnik, zračno plovilo, zračno vozilo), each of them could be a suitable choice due to its terminological features. Nevertheless, determining the most suited one is by no means simple. As the term aircraft has 510 occurrences in the Nato Glossary of Terms and definitions – AAP-06, Edition 2018, reaching an agreement on the most apt term is crucial. Should over 500 entries meant to be included into Slovenian-English military terminology base MOTerm be stalled as a result of inability to reach consent, difficulties will occur in line of work of translators, military academic publication authors and military training educators. It was found that current use of the term zrakoplov (aircraft) should be re-evaluated, taking into consideration new schools of thought and ever-present changes in language whilst trying to reach a terminological agreement.Key wordsTerminology, aircraft, terminological intervention.
