Continual advances in medicine mean that health professionals must remain well-informed in order to provide high-quality patient care. Multidisciplinary teams are crucial in this context, as research shows that this collaborative approach facilitates holistic treatment. Moreover, local medical research enhances the quality and safety of care by producing relevant knowledge and insights. Therefore, hospitals should promote research by healthcare teams. This article presents the experience of a research unit made up of healthcare professionals from diverse disciplines. The efforts of this team have had a positive impact on clinical care for pediatric oncology patients and their families. We hope that these findings will encourage other nursing professionals to develop multidisciplinary research teams in hospitals.
