The paper offers a detailed account of text reduction strategies in Russian-English translation, namely, the transformation of primary constructions. There has been given a comprehensive study on this issue, yet it needs further investigation. The paper tackles the main translation strategies of these structures as well as the semantics and role of primary pronouns in both languages. The empirical material for the study includes translation records from the summit meetings (speeches by V.V. Putin, S.V. Lavrov, etc.).
