Controversial issues (CI) on UN’s actions are progressively being integrated into common practices in history teaching in Côte d’Ivoire. This article, dealing with CI in current history in Côte d’Ivoire, intends to understand how this kind of knowledge is tackled in teaching situations in Côte d’Ivoire. A questionnaire on teachers’ opinions and teaching strategies was used. The data were treated using a framework defining CI teaching objectives and a typology of didactic strategies. The results reveal that teachers have difficulties in their attempt to teach this kind of knowledge. However, the stakes for students in a democratic society under construction are well visible.
