One cannot deny that acts of war are frequent in historical narratives. However, it is possible to refuse to consider them as turning points in the evolution of societies. That is why laudatory and heroic interpretations of armed conflicts need to be critically assessed. In addition, such violent events should not be considered as leading from one era to another, as is too often the case in our historiography.
