Based on a 2019 survey conducted before Bogota’s mayoral elections by the Universidad de La Sabana’s Media Observatory, we seek to identify the nature and characteristics of the transformation of the political culture that led to the election of Claudia López, the first female mayor in the city’s history, and their impact on political affection/disaffection among voters. An electorate mobilized more by causes than parties seems to break from a scenario of institutional distrust and misinformation, generating results that show a change in the pattern of electoral behavior of Bogota’s citizens.
