Recently, the prospects of research of linguistic analysis of various language tools in certain areas have become relevant, which requires conceptualization and search for patterns in transformations. The article shows the formation of the Ukrainian sports terminology, which is characterized by transformational lexical-semantic processes. It was determined that the first stages up to the beginning of the XXI century show the development of mainly synthetic formation of Ukrainian sports terms, the modern period of the XXI century has launched the dynamics of interpenetration of foreign terms. This trend is explained by the development of world sports, international communications and the dominance of term systems of foreign origin. The Ukrainian sports terminology system reflects communicative lexical means in the sports environment in the context of the influence of globalization tendencies. At the same time, the history of the Ukrainian language and its component sports terminology testifies to the influence of various external and internal factors that have influenced and continue to influence the transformation of national features of the sports terminology. The relevance of the study of these processes is due to the search for ways and means to improve the communicative properties of the Ukrainian sports terminology in the internationalization of sports terminology while preserving the authenticity of linguistic constructions and terminological phenomena. It is found that the genesis of the Ukrainian sports terminology is characterized by transformational lexical and semantic processes. The first stages to the beginning of the XXI century testify to the development of mostly synthetic formation of Ukrainian sports terms, at the same time the modern period of the XXI century began the dynamics of interpenetration of foreign terms. This trend should be explained by the development of world sports, international communications and the dominance of terminology of foreign origin. These characteristics necessitate the study of methodological aspects of the formation of the Ukrainian sports terminology.
