The article analyzes the conceptual principles of the functioning of the information and documentation system in terms of ensuring the quality of the educational process. It is proved that the introduction of a modern system of information and documentation support in higher education institutions ensures the effective integration of Ukraine into a transcontinental education and communication system. The introduction of an electronic document management system in higher education institutions streamlines and optimizes work with document streams and arrays, solves problems of ensuring the completeness of analytical data, duplication of information. It is revealed that in order to ensure the quality of educational activity, the information and communication environment is of special importance – the availability of conditions that ensure theactivity of users with information resources, using the interactive means of modern technologies. It has been proved that electronic communications in the system of documentation provide the necessary conditions for the organization of operational control over the implementation of the tasks set, the expansion of the boundaries of effective cooperation, the mobility of educational institutions, the conditions for the existence of a single educational information environment that provides a transition to an open European education.
