The issues of environmental safety of oil-bearing regions are highlighted. Oil and strata waters contain, along with chemical elements, radionuclides, removal of which oil to the Earth's surface occurs during oil and gas production. The radioactivity of rocks of the aluminosilicate type was investigated. It has been determined that the radioactivity of clay rocks from the oil-bearing Apsheron region is several times higher than the radioactivity of rocks from other deposits of our republic. It was noted that radioactivity of the soil cover, which is borderline between the lithosphere, atmosphere and hydrosphere, directly affects terrestrial vegetation and fauna
