Kemampuan representasi matematis merupakan salah satu standard proses ynag sangat penting untuk dimiliki dan dikembangkan oleh siswa. Diharapkan siswa mampu merepresentasikan hasil pemikirannya dan menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Namun pada kenyataannya, kemampuan representasi matematis siswa masih kurang dan perlu dikembangkan lagi. Pemberian bimbingan dan bantuan seperlunya kepada siswa yang mengalami kesulitan, diharapkan dapat memberi kesempatan kepada siswa untuk mampu memiliki tanggung jawab dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Salah satu bantuan yang bias diberikan adalah melalui metode Scaffolding. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa setelah menerima scaffolding dalam pembelajaran matematika berbasis kearifan budaya Osing Banyuwangi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII-B SMPN-2 Genteng-Banyuwangi. Instrumen pengumpulan data/ informasi yang digunakan terdiri dari instrumen tes, lembar observasi, dan wawancara. Hasiil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang belajar melalui pembelajaran matematika berbasis kearifan budaya Osing Banyuwangi dengan teknik scaffolding lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran melalui metode konvensional. Scaffolding dalam pembelajaran matematika berbasis kearifan budaya Osing Banyuwangi juga memberikan variasi pembelajaran dan menambah wawasan siswa tentang pentingnya mengenal serta melestarikan budaya yang ada di Indonesia. The ability of mathematical representation is one of the most important process standards to be owned and developed by students. It is expected that students will be able to represent the results of their thinking and solve mathematical problems. But in reality, students’ mathematical representation ability is still lacking and needs to be further developed. Providing guidance and assistance as needed to students who are experiencing difficulties, is expected to provide opportunities for students to be able to have the responsibility in solving mathematical problems. One of the assistance that can be provided is through the scaffolding method. This study aims to describe the mathematical representation ability of students after receiving scaffolding in learning mathematics based on Osing Banyuwangi’s cultural wisdom. The subjects of this study were students of class VII-B SMPN-2 GentengBanyuwangi. Data / information collection instruments used consisted of test instruments, observation sheets, and interviews. The results of the study showed that the mathematical representation ability of students who learn through mathematics learning based on The wisdom of Banyuwangi Osing culture with scaffolding techniques is better than students who learn through conventional methods. Scaffolding in learning mathematics based on The wisdom of Banyuwangi Osing culture also provides variety of learning and adds to students’ insights about the importance of knowing and preserving the culture that exists in Indonesia.
