Thoai Son, the newly-opened land associated with the Thoai Ha canal connecting Long Xuyen and Rach Gia, possesses a relatively specific ecological typology consisting of rice-fields, hills and riverways and a plentiful treasure on folk beliefs. In Thoai Son, many religious structures harmoniously intertwine with each other, all are on the way to change due to the impacts of modern life. The analysis shows that the core values of these beliefs are still maintained at a certain level. This paper applies the intersdisciplinary approach to describe, analyze and evaluate the current status and characteristics of the folk beliefs in Thoai Son, partially contributing to identify the values of traditional culture of Thoai Son and its future trends.
