We used pomelo waste after extracting oil to investigate for uptaking cadmium ion (Cd2+) in solution. The material was activated with citric acid and sodium hydroxide in order to increase the adsorption efficiency. The result of a batch process was at the highest adsorption rate of 88,04% when the solution pH was 7, the initial concentration of Cd2+ (hand-made solution) was 25mg/L, the particle size of adsorpbent was 0,1 – 0,5mm within 80mins at room temperature. The material’s adsorption isotherm is suitable for Langmuir isotherm and the maximun mass of Cd2+ adsorbed per mass of adsorbent is 39,8mg/g. In conclusion, the experiment shows the adsorption ability of activated pomelo waste on cadmium and its application in waste water treatment.
