Maxim the Confessor (580–662) is an outstanding thinker, Christian follower of the tradition of the last ancient Neo-Platonists. Historical and philosophical study of the work of Maxim the Confessor is relevant given its central role in Eastern Christian Neo-Platonism. In this article, we aim to carry out a historical and philosophical analysis of the research of Maxim Confessor's work by a prominent Kiev patron of the early 20th century. S. L. Epifanovich, specifically focusing on the experience of reconstruction of the philosophical and theological system of Maxim, carried out by this researcher.
