Purpose of a study. To reveal the features of the microcrystalline picture of the dried saliva in the clinically healthy dogs of different age, and also in dogs with the stomatological pathology. Materials and methods. We have investigated under the microscope the smears of the dried saliva of the dogs ― both of the clinically healthy (n=15) of different age and different breeds and with different diseases of the organs of the oral cavity (n=18). Results. In the clinically healthy dogs of any breed microcrystalline picture of saliva is of the same type: the microcrystals look as the treelike formations, similar to the sheet of fern. The picture changes with the age and with the appearance of oral pathology, acquiring diverse form, frequently with the start of the particles of the fodder, fragments of dental plaque, cells of blood and mucous membrane of oral cavity. Conclusions. This regularity can serve as one of the refining criteria for the diagnostics of different diseases of the maxillodental apparatus in dogs
