Because of the duration, depth and devastation of the Lebanese conflict, Lebanese women's roles changed drastically during the war. Many women lost their husbands, whi Ie others were abandoned and left to fend for themselves as the social order disintegrated. Women's traditional sources of income and other means ofsubsistence in their villages of origin were lost.
