‘ShunMai1718’ (Reg. No. CV‐1131, PI 673103) is a hard white winter wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) developed by the wheat breeding innovation group led by X.L. Pan in the Cotton Research Institute of ShanXi Agriculture Science Academy. ShunMai1718 is of unknown pedigree, derived from the crosses 32S/‘Gabo’ made in 1996 to 1997 by a modified pedigree bulk‐breeding method with high molecular weight glutenin subunit (HMW‐GS) marker‐assisted selection. ShunMai1718 was tested under the experimental number FengYou1718. The yield performance of ShunMai1718 was tested by three Testing and Appraising Committees of Crop Cultivars (TACCC) in five nursery trials. In these five trials, ShunMai1718 yielded 7236 kg ha −1 ( P < 0.05; n = 56), 5949 kg ha −1 ( P < 0.05; n = 30), 7594 kg ha −1 , 7714 kg ha −1 ( P < 0.05; n = 75), and 8464 kg ha −1 ( P < 0.05; n = 9). ShunMai1718 was approved for release by the TACCC of ShanXi Province, by the TACCC of HeNan Province, and by the TACCC of the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China. ShunMai1718 was released mainly because of its (1, 17+18, 5+10) HMW‐GS composition and its water efficiency in both the Huang‐Huai wheat growing region and the northern part late‐maturity winter wheat growing region.
