The authors of the article have examined the main approaches to the interpretation of the term "risk".". Also the authors have presented a vision that the concept of "risk" is often interpreted as the possibility of loss, the result of threats, the possibility of danger, and the existence of uncertainty. The question of the possibility of risk management is debatable, but the formation of mechanisms of their prevention is a mandatory component of the management system of organizations. A list of risks inherent in the activities of medical institutions depending on the validity of the consequences and the frequency of their manifestation has been determined in the article. A matrix of risk assessment of a medical institution has been developed. The risk index of danger for a medical institution has been determined. Unacceptable risks are the next: socio-legal (1.2 (IIA)); related to management (2.4 (IIB)); professional (medical) risks related to civil-legal liability (3.1 (IB), 3.2 (IB), 3.5 (IIB)); related to health threats for medical workers (4.4 (IA), 4.2 (IC)). In addition, undesirable (maximum allowable) risks include risks of a socio-legal nature (1.1 (IIIB)); related to management (2.1 (IIIB), 2.2 (IIC), 2.3 (ID)); professional (medical) risks associated with civil-legal liability (3.3 (IIIC), 3.4 (IIIB), 3.6 (IIIB)); related to health threats for medical workers (4.3 (IIIC)). Risks related to professional (medical) risks, management and civil-legal liability and related to the threat to the health of medical workers should be considered in the activities of enterprises and such risks require development of directions for their reduction. Applying the proposed approach to ranking different types of risks and determining the index of danger risk will allow different organizations to effectively manage the process of their prevention.
