The article is devoted to research in the field of design psychology, the influence of  the  subject-spatial  educational environment on  the  psychological state of  a  person. As  part of  the  study, a  survey of  students from Magnitogorsk State Technical University named after G.I. Nosov (MSTU named after G.I. Nosov) in order to identify spatial preferences, presents the results and their analysis. After analyzing the  world experience of  educational design of  universities, the  preferences of  consumers of  the  educational process of  various psychological types, we identified the basic principles of the subject-spatial organization of the educational environment of universities, which were applied in the design process of the internal spaces of  MSTU named after G.I.  Nosov. The  use of  these principles, in  our opinion, will lead to  the  fact that the  subject-spatial  educational environment will be  emotionally comfortable, functionally convenient and protected for all consumers of the educational process, as well as stimulate the internal forces and creative potential of the subjects of the educational process aimed at high learning outcome activities.
