The article deals with an acute issue of describing, assessing and searching for sources of information in the educational sphere. The author distinguishes four complex characteristics which allow a user to navigate the information flow and gives the tool for a critical evaluation of the source of information. The need for development of such criteria is becoming topical due to the current changes connected with global informatization of society and digitalization of education.
