This article contains a commentary on a letter from V. A. Zhukovsky to A. A. Del vig published in the journal Russian Archive in 1891. The article reveals the name of V. S. Lanskoy mentioned in it (without initials), who was the Chairman of the Commission for accepting petitions to the tsar. V. A. Zhukovsky intended to appeal to him regarding the advancement of N. O. Pushkina’s second request for her son and permission for him to leave Mikhailovskoye for treatment. The eff orts were not crowned with success due to the death of Alexander I and the uprising on December 14, 1825, after which the attempts to free the poet from his exile in Mikhailovskoye took on a different character.
