The article analyzes some of the key features of comic discourse. Its specifcity is outlined in terms of the construed semantic relations between the text and non-textual reality, as well as between «said» and «implied». It is suggested that the comic discourse is not inclined to focus on the literal meanings of the used language units, yet at the same time does not deny them, acting as a carrier of a special kind of «displaced» meanings.
