The article deals with the émigré reception of "Dostoïevski" (1923) by André Gide. The book became an instrument in the fi ght for Dostoevsky, which was ongoing in the interwar Russia Abroad. Dostoevsky as an ideologist set in opposition to Dostoevsky as an artist. The article focuses on the critical works by Boris de Schlözer, Vladimir Veidle, George Adamovich and Vladimir Varshavsky.
