The «Circle of the "Dark Avenues"» a large body of stories that frame the circle of the cycle "Dark Avenues", is examined in the article as a thematic and poetical entity. This entity reveals the experimental and dynamic basis of Ivan Bunin’s prose works created in the last years of his life. These stories feature narrative principles that are quite new for the period of the 1940s
