The article, based on the previously unpublished archival documents, contains unknown facts from the life of Professor S. A. Vengerov. An attempt is made to reconstruct the life stories of two of his students, originally from Arkhangelsk, whose names are to be found in the lists of political terror victims, compiled by Memorial.
