Currently there is a growing need for technology to enhance the ability of people to interact remotely. The technologies available at the moment can always meet the needs of users, in particular in matters of providing telepresence, as well as the transmission of haptic data. The article proposes the introduction of a new term – immersive technologies in telecommunications, as well as an overview of technologies and future research related to this subject. Research subject is immersive telecommunication technologies. Research method is an analysis of the literature on the subject. Core results are analysis and survey of the immerse communications equipment and network requirements. Practical relevance of the work is that the results can be used for immerse communications applications design and development.
