The topic of the research is particularly relevant because functional studies in linguistics are not investigated sufficiently enough nowadays. This article presents a systematization of modern functional linguistic studies relying on the achievements of previous years. The article describes such research areas as linguistic semantics, communicative-activity analysis of language and functional discourse analysis.
