ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to develop an experiment-based pocket book media to improve students' science process skills in light material and optical devices in class VIII MTs Negeri 1 Mataram. This research uses research and development (R&D) research methods. As the subject in this study were 36 students of class VIII MTs Negeri 1 Mataram. Data obtained through questions, questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative to measure students' science process skills. Based on the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the shape of the pocket book media is the size of the pocket book media of 10 cm x 12 cm and the contents consist of covers, light material and optical devices, examples of questions and discussions, for example in everyday life and practicum. which uses simple tools that are easy to find in everyday life. Judging from the validity of the pocket book media, its validity has been tested both in terms of media experts and material where for the educational criteria 3 experts and practitioners give an A, for the appearance criteria 2 experts and 1 practitioner give an A and 1 expert gives B, as well as for technical criteria 3 experts gave an A and the practitioner gave a B value and its effectiveness was tested because based on the error level of 5% of the total 36 students, the t table price = 0.88137.It turned out that the t value was greater than the t table price (5.145> 0.68137 ). It shows that the hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, which states that there are differences in science processing skills before and after using pocket book media. This means that the pocket book learning media is effective in improving the science process skills of each student. Keywords: pocket book; student science process skills.
