The article dwells on the analysis of the problems arising in the process of operation of the jury system in the Russian Federation. The author of the article noted some problems of the effectiveness of the jury trial in Russia. The success in solving the mentioned problems, as well as the expansion of the categories of criminal cases which can be tried by jury are to be regarded as the necessary conditions of the most effective functioning of the jury.
