The postponement of the voting date for amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation for several months (from April 22 to July 1, 2020) caused a huge public outcry among Russian voters. The author of this article tried to explain to the reader the current situation in this regard, not only in Russia, but abroad, revealing all the positive and negative ways of this extraordinary phenomenon. We all know that elections were postponed in many countries around the world. But was it absolutely necessary? The author of the article aims to understand the legality and rationality of this kind of postponement of the voting date in the context of a pandemic.
