The article examines the history of the construction of the Gori-Tskhinval railway, which connected the junction station in Gori (Georgia) and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia). For two centuries, the issue of building the Caucasian Passage Railway affects not only technological, but also political, economic, social and cultural factors in the development of the region. This main line is of particular interest for the reason that it was supposed to become part of the railway pass through the Main Caucasian ridge. The article provides information about the construction site, its leaders and participants, the problems they encountered during the construction process.
