The article considers the language genre-forming means of review as a research and news genre. It is noted that the review is one of the most complex genres, since it does not have strict genre-forming features. However, the review is always recognizable, because it is a secondary, derived text in relation to the work of art. The leading role in this text is played by the evaluation of this work. The score can be created by various means. In the review of the film "Green book", the dominant means of creating an assessment the irony is based on contrast. At the same time, using irony and a kind of banter, the author positively evaluates the analyzed film
