The article considers the results of the second war of Mithridates based on evaluations of ancient authors and modern historiography. Although historian Appian believed that the winner in this war was Mithri- dates Eupator, the award for the victory was received by Roman warlord Muraena. It is probably explained by the fact that the power in Rome belonged to dictator Sulla and he personally took a decision on giving the triumph to Muraena.
