The article focuses on the historical and typological principles of choral writing in the Ukrainian national tradition. Ukrainian musicology, studying the history of choral music of the early 9th up to the 20th centuries, represents a multilayered structure of choralwriting. The historical and cultural dynamics of choral writing, which is characterized by the latest trends and remarkable heritage, has been substantiated. The influence of socio-historical (national liberation movement), of ideological and artistic conditions on the development of choral writing has been clarified. In the context of the proposed study, choral writing is considered to be a historical criterion formation of choral art in its traditionally established patterns. Genre and style principles of choral art allowed to trace historical formation of typological forms. It has been determined that choral writing at the present stage is a supplement at the level of established polyphonic principles of choral writing and their transformation.
